FAQ's & How-To's
E-mail Server Addresses
- The outgoing (SMTP) mail server address is mail.domain.com where "domain" is your domain name
- The incoming (POP3) mail server address is mail.domain.com where "domain" is your domain name
To access your e-mail via Web Mail, visit http://webmail.themarcomgroup.com.
Undeliverable E-mail
Check the spelling of the username and domain in the destination e-mail address. Many servers on the Internet are UNIX based servers which are case sensitive. On these servers, "UserName@somewhere.com" is not the same as "USERNAME@somewhere.com" or "username@somewhere.com."
It is also possible that your recipient has reached the mail storage allotment on their provider's system and mail is being returned because of a "full mailbox."
To setup Outlook Express 5.x or 6.x on a PC:
- In Outlook Express, select Accounts from the Tools menu.
- Click the Mail tab to make it the active window.
- Select Add and then Mail which will start a wizard-based process.
- Type Your Name as you wish it to be displayed on outgoing messages and then click the Next button.
- Verify that "I already have an e-mail address that I'd like to use" is checked and then enter your Internet E-mail address in the field provided in the format "username@domain.com." When complete, click the Next button.
- In the E-mail Server Names window, select POP3 from the drop-down list.
- Enter mail.domain.com in the Incoming Mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server field where "domain" is your domain name.
- Enter mail.domain.com in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) field where "domain" is your domain name. Click the Next button when done.
- Enter your full email address in the POP Account Name Field and your password in the password field. If do not wish to supply your password each time you check for incoming mail, verify that the Remember password box is checked.
- Click the Next button and the wizard will save your settings and return to the Internet accounts window.
- Note that the Account Name that is displayed by default is the name specified as the incoming (POP3) mail server, which would be mail.domain.com.
- The Type of account (mail) is automatically displayed for you and the Connection type specified is automatically set for you as Any Available.
- To edit or change the settings for an account, click to highlight the account name and then click the Properties tab.
- Verify that the General tab is displayed. If you wish to change the Account name to a more easily recognizable or "friendly name" (for example, Road Runner), change the name displayed in the Mail Account field.
- If you wish to edit your name and e-mail address settings, use the fields provided under User Information.
- Click the Apply button. If you do not wish to edit information on other property tabs, click the OK button.
- To edit the mail server address information, select the Servers tab.
- Verify that the Incoming Mail (POP3) field displays pop-server.bak.rr.com
- The Outgoing mail (SMTP) field should display smtp-server.bak.rr.com.
- The Account name should display your username.
- If you have elected to save your password, it is displayed as asterisks. If you are entering your password in this field for the first time or replacing it, it will display as asterisks.
